Counseling
Confidential, research-informed mental health treatment
Support, empathy, education for working through life's challenges
1.
Trauma Therapy
Utilizing the evidence-based treatment of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) the client is engaged in a process of desensitizing or "neutralizing" the symptoms associated with traumatic events.
2.
Individual
Psychotherapy
Counselling or "talk therapy" for processing challenging thoughts and emotions often associated with anxiety and depression. This service is also helpful for preventative mental health maintenance.
3.
Child and Adolescent Therapy
When working with children and adolescents, I utilize a variety of activities to engage them, using "their therapeutic language", whether it be through play, art or structured talk-therapy.
My Approach
I value and strive to create an atmosphere of acceptance and non-judgmentalness in the therapy setting; meeting each client exactly where they are. I bring my own sense of authenticity and genuine care for each person with whom I work. I hope to serve as a guide in the healing process; to work hard alongside each individual in order to discover the areas of their discomfort and assist in creating a plan to overcome these challenges.
I have a background in working with adults, children, adolescents and military veterans. While working with these populations, I was able gain an appreciation for the challenges people are faced with in many phases of life’s journey. The therapeutic approaches that I identify with most of all have a foundation in compassion and the mindfulness philosophies of openness and approaching one’s self without judgment.
In addition to more person-centered therapeutic approaches. I have formal training in evidence-based practices; short-term, research-informed treatments:
-
Eye-movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
-
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Eye-movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for the treatment of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorders, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat anxiety and depression and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for high risk behaviors and suicidality.

About me
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist from Los Angeles, California, USA. I spent most of my career working at UCLA, in acute psychiatric hospital settings and non-profit, specialty outpatient programs.
I enjoy outdoor sports such as hiking, biking and camping. I have a background in Recreation Therapy and love the healing power of nature. I come from a large family. We enjoy spending time at the beach and taking care of the, now, many grandchildren of my parents. I am grateful to have loving friends to share in the journey of life. I am grateful for the calling and responsibility I have to be a counselor and hope to bring my empathy and understanding to each moment we share together.
